Pass the Roc de Chère—a rocky promontory and forested nature reserve that overlooks the Bay of Talloires. Just before descending, take a moment to lift your gaze and take in the view: a line of ridges, peaks, and summits rising above the shimmering waters of Lake Annecy.

Then descend towards the lake along the port road, weaving between the village’s picturesque houses, cyclists, and walkers until you reach the Auberge du Père Bise, right at the lake’s edge. Founded 120 years ago by the Bise family, the Auberge du Père Bise in Talloires-Montmin—at the crossroads of the Bauges massif, the Vanoise Park, and the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley—is one of the oldest Relais & Châteaux properties. It has been a continuous member since 1973.

This grand family house, rich in stories and memories, is now run with elegance and humility by Magali Sulpice. A caring host, she carries on the legacy of the place and ensures the harmony of the Auberge du Père Bise experience—with discretion and expertise. Spread between the main building and the garden house, the 22 rooms and suites of the 5-star Auberge du Père Bise combine refinement, authenticity, and simplicity. Inspired by the atmosphere of a beautiful family home, they sit between lake and mountain. Each room is unique, decorated with vintage posters, antique prints, curated artwork, designer furniture, and nods to the lake, wildlife, the mountains, and the culinary arts. On the first floor, the 60 m² “exceptional” suite, decorated in soothing shades of blue, offers a breathtaking 360° view of Lake Annecy, the Bay of Talloires, and the surrounding mountains. It features an 80 m² wooden terrace with a private jacuzzi. All suites have balconies or terraces overlooking the lake, while the rooms offer unique views of the Roc de Chère, La Tournette, or the lake itself.
